Apple Remote Desktop 3.1 fixes AppleScript issues

Apple has released Remote Desktop 3.1, a new version of its workstation management software. The new version can be downloaded from the Apple Web site (separate downloads are available for the Client and Admin software). It is also available through the Software Update control panel.

Apple recommend the update for all users, as it “addresses numerous issues related to overall reliability, usability and compatibility.”

Specific fixes have been provided for:

  • remote lights out management of Xserve
  • scanning computers on the local network
  • installation of software meta-packages
  • authentication when using directory services
  • execution of AppleScript and Automator workflows
  • compatibility with third party VNC viewers and servers
  • A number of other changes have been made as well. For a complete list, visit Apple’s Web site.

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.3.9 or later and Remote Desktop 3.0.
