LaCie on Thursday introduced the Huby, a USB and FireWire 400 hub with a unique industrial design. It costs $79 and ships in December.

The Huby has a globe-like design, and sprouts eight flexible cables: Four USB 2.0 cables, two FireWire 400 cables, a USB light and a USB fan. There are also LEDs that light up to show you when the system is active. The white casing of the Huby is made of polycarbonate and weighs about two pounds.

The device connects to a Mac or PC through one upstream FireWire 400 cable and one upstream USB 2.0 cable. It measures 4.33 x 5.2 inches (without cables).
