Plug-in maker Automatic Duck is at the NAB event for video pros to show off Pro Import AE 4.0, the latest version of its timeline translation tool for Adobe After Effects. With it, you can bring your timeline from Final Cut Pro, Motion, or from Avid’s software into After Effects without exporting and bringing over individual QuickTime movies or losing layers.

The new version, announced earlier this month, adds support for Final Cut Pro’s multiclips and displaying Motion particles and replicators and Avid Timewarps; it improves support for HDV, DVCProHD, and XDCAM for Final Cut Pro users, among other things.

Pro Import AE 4.0 is a Universal app, that is compatible with After Effects CS3 (and should be available around the same time that Adobe ships its updated app in the summer). The plug-in costs $495, with upgrades from version 3 costing $195. (Those who purchased or upgraded to version 3 on or after April 2 will receive the new version for free.)
