Editors who need to collaborate with other users long distance should be happy with Intelligent Gadgets’ syncVuePro, which I took a look at during this week’s NAB trade show for video professionals. The new version, which replaces syncVue, is a free update for current users.

syncVuePro uses a graphics layer on which users can draw on top of video, as well as makes notes and annotations, for real time collaboration—these time-code-based markers will even export for use in Final Cut Pro. You can also now add voice notes for later playback or for those not connected to your session when you’re working.

The Skype-based media review tool also adds the ability to review streaming versions of QuickTime files rather than forcing participants to download video ahead of time. For those who prefer to download content, however, the app now includes a built-in FTP function to make file distribution easier.

You can also group files into playlists, and export your storyboard to HTML, complete with overlayed graphics, titles, annotations, and even voice notes (which the app converts to MP3 files). SyncVuePro starts at $189 for one seat, and also comes in volume discounts.
