Apple has summoned media in the United Kingdom for a press event the company will hold on September 18. Although it is highly expect that Apple will make an iPhone announcement, the company is declining to elaborate on the invitation that says, “Mum is no longer the word.”

According to previously published reports, Germany’s T-Mobile Deutschland, France’s Orange SA and Britain’s O2 (UK) have signed exclusive deals to sell the iPhone in their respective markets. While no details have been released, the operators have reportedly agreed to give Apple 10 percent of the revenue they generate from the sale of voice and data services for the device.

Apple recently reached its self imposed goal of selling one million iPhones before the end of the quarter. This coming just days after the company slashed the price of the iPhone by $200, generating an angry backlash among early adopters of the device.

Apple agreed to a $100 in-store credit for all iPhone buyers, helping to smooth the situation.
