Quark on Monday introduced Quark Publishing System 7, a new version of its collaborative workflow software based around its flagship desktop publishing software QuarkXPress 7.

Quark Publishing System (QPS) 7 enables newspapers, magazines and corporate publishers to create and manage a digital document workflow, linking both editorial and creative systems around QuarkXPress.

New to QPS 7 is a new open standards-based architecture that can support an unlimited number of publications in one system. It features server-side scripting support, support for QuarkXPress 7 and QuarkCopyDesk 7, along with a multifunction client that lets users work with their own preferred Mac and Windows software applications, QPS Web Editor, which lets users write, edit and copyfit text over the Internet, and certification with HSQL and Microsoft SQL.

System requirements for QPS 7 call for Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later, Java J2SE Runtime Environment 1.5, QuarkXPress Server 7.2.1 and Quark License Administrator 4.0.1.
