Stone Design on Friday announced the release of Create 14, a new version of their page layout, illustration and Web authoring software for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, Create 14 costs $149.

Create combines elements of page layout, illustration and Web authoring software for users who want to print or produce everything from books to newsletters, Web sites and more. You can make and reuse art using a built-in library, apply effects, blends and custom patters, convert to different graphic formats, output as PDF, support Multiple Masters layers and more.

The version 14 release features a new XHTML engine that provides full use of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for Web authoring. Text now has three timesaving modes — size to fit, one line and fixed line. The software features small document file sizes and faster launching, supports noncontiguous text selection and modification, adds support for Leopard and more.
