Trans Intl has introduced the MiniXpress 825S, a new portable external hard disk drive that features three interfaces — external Serial ATA (eSATA), USB 2.0 and FireWire 400. It’s priced starting at $99.

The device houses a 2.5-inch Serial ATA (SATA)-equipped hard disk drive mechanism. The case is made of aluminum and houses an anti-shock mechanism to keep the drive safe. The eSATA interface is useful for Power Mac and Mac Pro users who have configured their systems with an eSATA host controller card and are looking for maximum performance. Two FireWire 400 jacks are also included.

The MiniXpress 825S utilizes a “DuoLink” interface that combines eSATA and USB 2.0 into a single connector.

The portable enclosure itself, without a drive, costs $99. Other configurations are available, from a 100GB drive to a 250GB drive, in capacities and speeds.
