Ambrosia Software on Friday announced an update to WireTap Studio to make the software compatible with Mac OS X v10.5 “Leopard.” The free update for registered users is available for download from their Web site. WireTap Studio costs $69.

WireTap Studio is an audio recording utility that enables you to record, edit and transform audio in a lossless and foolproof way. Using filters, you can apply different compression schemes and audio formats to your audio and listen to the end result without losing your original source material, so you can change back and increase quality or undo edits without having to recreate the file. LivePreview lets you preview audio before you capture it, hearing the changes in realtime.

Besides Mac OS X v10.5 compatibility, WireTap 1.0.1 also adds finer-grained VU meters in the Preferences/Source window to better indicate average and peak values, and the Export drop zone now includes iPhone. Numerous other bug fixes and enhancements have been made as well.

A Universal binary, WireTap Studio requires Mac OS X v10.4 or later. WireTap Pro users can upgrade for $30. A free trial version is available.
