Hudson Software's popular action game Bomberman is now available for the iPod. It costs $4.99 and is available for purchase and download through the iTunes Store. Bomberman works on third-generation iPod nano, iPod classic and fifth-generation iPod devices only.

A classic game that's long been popular on consoles, in Bomberman, you set up bombs and blow up your enemies, and the faster you clear each level, the more points you get. You can pick up Item Panels to power up Bomberman with special abilities.

Bomberman for the iPod also includes three different mini games: Bowling for Bombs, where you get points by rolling a bomb into other bombs and exploding them; Bomb Buster, a bomb version of whack a mole; and Bomb Rollin', where you have to jump from one bomb to another and roll your way to the finish line.

The game features two different play modes: Normal mode in which you work through each stage in order and face off against a boss character; and Challenge mode, in which you can select any stage you've already played in Normal mode.

Bomberman marks the third new game release for iPods this week; Tuesday also saw the release of Peggle and Sonic the Hedgehog.
