Ambrosia Software has released WireTap Studio 1.0.4, an update to their audio recording and management software for Mac OS X. The new release is a free update for registered users. WireTap Studio costs $69, and a free demo is available for download.

You can use WireTap Studio to record and edit audio files. The software's built-in audio editor lets you edit lossless; you can make changes and try re-encoding at different bit rates and using different formats, previewing your changes live and undoing the changes you don't like. You can export to different formats and files, too.

WireTap Studio 1.0.4 supports AMR, 3GP and 3GPP2 file formats on Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard." M4A files with tags now play correctly in QuickTime Player. Other fixes and enhancements have also been made.

If you feel like you've missed a couple of versions, don't fret: WireTap Studio 1.0.2 and 1.0.3 were Japanese market releases, according to Ambrosia.

System requirements call for Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
