Matrox Video Group has announced an update for its MXO. Version 2.1 is now available for download from their Web site.

The MXO is a hardware device for video pros. It works with QuickTime-based applications on the Mac that support the V-out component included with Final Cut Pro, Color and other software. It uses the Digital Visual Interface (DVI) port on the Mac to provide frame-accurate output with a broadcast-standard frame rate. It also embeds eight digital audio tracks in the SDI signal that are synced to the video.

Changes in the 2.1 release include support for Mac OS X v10.5 "Leopard," support for Apple Color, support for Adobe Premiere Pro CS3, and genlock timing offset controls, used to align video output relative to an external genlock source (useful for broadcasters who have to compensate for cable delays in their facilities).
