Game publisher THQ on Thursday announced plans to publish a game based on WALL/E, the new movie coming from Disney. The game is coming to "all major gaming systems" including the Mac, according to THQ's statement.

The announcement continues a long-standing relationship between THQ and Disney/Pixar; THQ has developed video games based on Pixar movies for several years, including The Incredibles, Cars and Ratatouille.

WALL/E tells the story of a trash-collecting robot on a long-abandoned planet Earth who inadvertently stumbles on the key to the planet's future. He's joined by his friend EVE, a pet cockroach and a team of misfit robots. The movie is coming on June 27, 2008. You can view a trailer for the movie in QuickTime on Apple's Web site.

The game is being developed by Heavy Iron Studios, an internal development arm of THQ. Player swill explore 10 worlds and participate in multiplayer challenges, partly based on the movie and partly unique to the game. THQ plans to release the game at the same time as it hits theaters.
