A new music service called FlyTunes is making a bid for the attention of users of the iPhone, iPod touch and other portable media players and media-ready cell phones. It's coming January 21, 2008.

The company is positioning its service as a free alternative to satellite radio for devices that utilize any kind of wireless connection.

FlyTunes features thousands of channels of digital music, and it works without any additional hardware. Users can personalize their music channels, promote their favorite songs and flag songs they don't want to listen to again.

The service also works with Macs and PCs.
