Myvu, makers of the Myvu video glasses for the iPod, on Monday introduced two new styles of video glasses that look more like sunglasses than their previous offerings. Myvu Shades and Myvu Crystal are coming in January and later this spring, for $199.95 and $299.95 respectively.

Like their original predecessors, the new Myvu designs enable users to watch video on iPods and other personal media players. The original Myvu sported a slim "glance-down" design that enabled people to watch video while retaining "situation awareness" about what's going on around them. This design philosophy is carried forward with the new designs, which look more like sunglasses.

The Myvu Shades retain the "glance down" format of the original Myvu eyewear, while featuring a top portion that looks more like sunglasses. The Myvu Crystal increases resolution from 320 x 240 to 640 x 480, enabling full VGA resolution. It also has a 35 percent increase in the field of view over existing myvu models, but it looks like a pair of sunglasses.

Myvu's Web site had not been updated as Macworld posted this review.
