Tenon has announced the release of iTools 9, a new version of their Web-based user interface software for configuration and management of Web services on Mac OS X. It costs $349, with upgrades priced at $275.

iTools is aimed at professional Web developers and IT managers who are looking for a way to simplify management of software like Apache, DNS and FTP running on Mac OS X systems. It works with both desktop and server versions of Mac OS X, and enhances the technology with SSL encryption, a caching engine, proxy support and search functionality.

iTools 9 includes the Apache 2.2.6 build and also makes improvements and bug fixes to DNS and FTP. FTP now has a built-in file manager that lets you assign clients to unique groups, for example. Web hosts using iTools 9 can also automate hosting tasks and delegate administration, letting sub-administrators manage their own name or IP-based Web sites and view logs securely.
