Editor’s Note: All this week, Macworld editors will report from the Macworld Expo show floor on meetings with Mac developers, new product announcements, and anything else that catches their eye.
For much of the Mac world, Monday was a day of anticipation, waiting to see what gear comes out of Tuesday’s keynote. The same can be said for third-party accessory vendors, who have a particular interest in outfitting Apple’s latest products. And one accessory maker in particular decided to get the jump on Tuesday’s keynote, issuing an announcement that’s already the front-runner for my favorite press release of the 2008 Expo.
Monday’s press release from this Mac-accessory vendor: “Expect a press release late Wednesday night regarding a new laptop case to ship this Friday if Steve Jobs announces a new laptop at Macworld tomorrow.”
In other words, the company is announcing a future product announcement if Apple happens to announce anything worth announcing about. You’ve got to love the effect Apple’s famous secrecy has on other vendors. (For what it’s worth, this company has its own production factory in the area, so it really is possible for new products to begin shipping on Friday.)
