Data storage peripheral maker WiebeTech has announced that it has been purchased by CRU-DataPort, a maker of data security and data mobility products. The terms of the acquisition were not announced.

CRU-DataPort makes, among other products, the DataPort and Data Express line of removable hard drive enclosures. This dovetails with WiebeTech's own product focus, which includes the RTX400 and ProSATA SS8 multi-tray SATA external storage systems.

WiebeTech also rolled out a new peripheral called the DriveBox. It's intended to store and transport bare hard drives. Designed to complement WiebeTech's own RTX TrayFree line, the device is make with textured anti-static plastic, sports reinforced clips, has spots for labels and includes a foam pad for extra cushioning. The DriveBox case is priced at $5.95 each.
