On2 Technologies on Tuesday released Flix Publisher 2.0 for Mac, a browser-based video encoding and publishing application for Adobe Flash Player 8 and 9.

On2 is offering Flix Publisher as a fully customizable development kit licensed to video web sites; site owners can brand and integrate the software directly into their pages for a seamless experience for video content encoding, previewing and submissions. Once uploaded, videos are encoded within the browser on a user’s desktop in On2’s VP6 for Flash format, which has been licensed from Adobe for compatibility with Flash Player 8 and 9. The software also can capture live videos from any camera attached to a computer.

Flix Publisher is now compatible with Apple’s Safari browser, according to On2.

The announcement came at Macworld Expo in San Francisco where On2 is demonstrating Flix Publisher 2.0 at its booth on the show floor. No pricing information or system requirements was announced.
