LightWork Design released LightWorks 7.8, its updated rendering program for 3-D designers.

The new version focuses on improvements in accuracy, performance and ease-of-use for lighting, global illumination, tone mapping and gamma correction. Updates also include a re-engineered Real-time Plus features with improved performance and better control. The improved gamma correction now more closely matches renders in real time while new shaders help to provide glow effects without actually emitting light.

Other shader improvements include a speckled shader, horizon background shader and a lighting environment background shader. Version 7.8 also adds a new output feature that allows PNG image files to be read and written to within the program.

Programmers use LightWorks for integrated rendering in advanced 3-D graphics applications.
