Expo: Daylite adds extensions to other business apps

Marketcircle extended the capabilities of its flagship application Daylite this week, releasing a new version that features extensions tying the business and productivity management software into other Mac business programs. In addition, Daylite 3.7 adds a report distribution tool that allows users to schedule and deliver reports via e-mail.

Marketcircle bills Daylite as a business management application. In addition to managing tasks, appointments, and contacts, it also project-management, business-tracking, and report-generating tools.

Figuring prominently in the 3.7 update are three product extensions. Daylite MoneyWorks connector complements the accounting program from Cognito Software to unify contracts, create estimates, and win sales orders across the two programs. The Daylite LightSpeed Connector ties Marketcircle’s program into the point-of-sale application from Xsilva. Finally, Daylite FileMaker Connector pulls contacts, tasks, and appointments from the popular database program, while letting users export information from Daylite into existing FileMaker databases.

The idea behind the connectors is to let Daylite users tie the application to other programs essential to their business, Marketcircle CEO Alykhan Jetha explained from the Macworld Expo show floor this week where his company was showcasing the new version of Daylite. Being able to move information back and forth between Daylite and a program such as MoneyWorks, for example, saves users from entering duplicate records in two program, which is a “huge time-saver,” Jetha said.

Marketcircle may add other connectors in the future. “We’re going to see how these three go… and take it from there,” Jetha said.

Also new in Daylite 3.7 is the Daylite Delivery feature, which lets users share and schedule PDF reports to be delivered to everything from a Mac to an iPhone. Users have 50 reports built into Daylite 3.7 at their disposal; they can also design and schedule reports of their own.

Daylite 3.7 is a free upgrade for 3.x users, though the connectors and the delivery tool have their own fees. Daylite MoneyWorks connector costs $99 per user; Daylite Lightspeed Connector costs $129 per user; and Daylite FileMaker Connector costs $299 per server. The Daylite Delivery add-on sells for $99 for a five-report pack.
