Samsung's new 24-inch and 25.5-inch SyncMaster displays were shown at last week's Macworld Expo. The speakers are aimed at consumers looking for full High Definition (HD) video for their computers and home entertainment equipment.
The $599 24-inch 2493HM and $699 25.5-inch 2693HM both sport 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution and High Definition Multimedia Input (HDMI). They have four-way adjustable stands that let you manipulate their height, swivel, tilt and pivot capabilities. Both monitors also have 5 millisecond grey-to-grey response times.
The 2493HM also features 10,000:1 contrast ratio, 400 cd/m(2) brightness and 160 degree horizontal and vertical viewing angle. In addition to HDMI, which attaches the monitor to an HD optical disk player, new game systems or Apple TV, it also features DVI and D-Sub inputs to connect direct to a computer.
The 2693HM has the same inputs and many of the same features and specifications; its contrast ratio is 1,000:1, however.
