Travelocity on Tuesday announced the launch of a new Web application optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch.

Travelocity is a Web-based travel agency for consumers. It lets you book flights, hotels, car rentals, cruises and complete vacation packages online. The company's popular television advertisements feature the long-suffering Roaming Gnome, a gnome lawn statue who often finds itself in precarious situations as it makes sure that Travelocity's customers get good value for their money.

The iPhone Travelocity Web site enables Travelocity users to review flight information and book trips online, using a simplified interface. Users can check schedules, gates and times, security wait information, get directions via Google Maps and more.
