FirewireDirect has introudced the HSB-V, a 4-bay FireWire 800/eSATA RAID storage cluster with a built-in Blu-ray Disc burner. It's priced starting at $269 (for a completely "de-populated" chassis without any storage or disc drive).

The system is available built-to-order with five different host interfaces -- 4x external Serial ATA (eSATA), 1x Multilane Infiniband, 1x Port Multiplier (PM), 1x PM with RAID or as paired FireWire 800 USB 2.0 combo ports.

Combined with a PCI Express (PCIe)-based host controller card in a Power Mac G5 or Mac Pro, the HSB-V can be configured as a RAID storage system with support for RAID 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 or for use as a JBOD (Just a Bunch of Discs).

The HSB-V is also available with an optional built-in Blu-ray Disc burner, so you can archive data to high-capacity optical disc. The system includes Web-based or GI utility and management software when paired with an optional controller.
