MediaCentral has been updated to version 2.7. The new release is available for download from Equinux’s Web site. MediaCentral costs $29.95.

MediaCentral is a home theater system for the Mac — it provides you with the ability to control all media — DVDs, digital movies, pictures, music, as well as games, Skype VoIP calls, IP TV and Internet radio.

The new 2.7 release overhauls its TV engine with the same technology that powers Equinux’s The Tube 2.5 software, which it includes with its TubeStick TV interface for the Mac. The update provides “noticeably better picture quality,” faster channel switching and access to records made using The Tube software.

Additionally, MediaCentral 2.7 is more responsive, has updated online content and improves integration with iPhoto ‘08 libraries.

MediaCentral requires a G4/1GHz or faster and Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later.
