Apple on Thursday released Digital Camera Raw Compatibility Update 2.0, available for download either through the Software Update system preference or from the Apple Web site.

The software extends digital camera raw file support for Aperture 2 and iPhoto ‘08 to include the following new cameras:

  • Hasselblad CFV-16
  • Hasselblad H3D-31
  • Hasselblad H3D-31II
  • Leaf Aptus 54S
  • Leaf Aptus 65S
  • Nikon D60
  • Olympus E-3
  • Pentax *ist DL2
  • Pentax *ist DS2
  • Pentax K100D Super
  • Sony DSLR-A200
  • Sony DSLR-A350

The update also includes key changes to security, according to Apple. Apple has posted a separate link detailing the security changes made to this release.

Apple indicates that this update also fixes a flaw with Aperture 2 or iPhoto 7.1.2 with iLife Support 8.2 installed. Viewing a maliciously crafted image can lead to unexpected app termination or arbitrary code execution. The update improves validation of DNG-formatted image files to help prevent that from happening. DNG is Adobe’s “digital negative” format.
