Griffin Technology on Thursday introduced its ClearBoost case for the iPhone. The case features a built-in antenna booster, according to the manufacturer, and is available now for $29.99.

The case is made of polycarbonate and also offers protection against bumps and scratches. The case conceals a copper booster antenna that captures more of the available signal and sends it to your iPhone’s internal antenna.

That difference in signal quality doesn’t necessarily translate into more “bars” on your iPhone’s signal strength meter, so Griffin has posted on its Web site links to a video that explain how to access a special menu on your iPhone to show you the signal strength of the closest cell towers your iPhone is connected to. Without the case, according to Griffin, users will typically see a 5 to 10 decibel (dB) difference.
