Apple on Monday released an update to its QuickTime multimedia software. According to Apple's notes, QuickTime 7.5 "improves application compatibility and addresses security issues" and is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.

The Apple support document for QuickTime 7.5 states that the update fixes secuity issues related to opening maliciously crafted AAC-encoded media, PICT image files, and Indeo video content.

The free update is available now via OS X's Software Update feature.
