Enhanced cross-referencing features highlight the latest version of Mellel, the word-processing application from RedleX.

The low-cost word processor has carved out a space for itself with extensive support for multiple languages. But in version 2.5, the focus is on improving references that allow users to point different sections of their text.

The new reference features lets users point to page numbers, position in the text, page range, and other characteristics. Cross-reference formats can be saved and re-used later.

Mellel 2.5 also lets users view bookmarks, images, headings, footnotes, and figures in context and as they appear in the text for easy reference. A live update feature immediately shows any changes that users have made to cross references.

Other changes to Mellel include a new format editor for auto-titles, a Spotlight plug-in included in the application bundle, improved selection saving, and bug fixes. A full list of changes is available at the RedleX Web site.

Mellel 2.5 is a free upgrade for users who bought the word processor after May 2006. Other registered users can upgrade for $19.

Mellel costs $49 for a single-user license, with educational and five-pack licenses available for $35 and $99, respectively.
