Digital Foci on Thursday announced the Photo Safe II. It’s a portable photo storage device that copies digital photos from digital camera memory cards. It’s available in 80GB and 160GB capacities for $139 and $189 respectively.

Photo Safe II
The Photo Safe II stores digital photos on a hard drive and has a built-in memory card reader.
The Photo Safe II copies the entire contents of your memory card using an Auto Copy button. It copies at up to 5.0MB/sec, so a 1GB memory card is copied in about three and a half minutes. It’s compatible with popular memory card formats including CompactFlash, xD-Picture Card, MMC, SD/SDHC, miniSD, Memory Stick, MS Pro, MS Duo and MS Pro Duo formats.

Mac and PC-compatible, the Photo Safe II transfers data to a host computer using USB 2.0 and will operate as an external hard disk when connected. It copies all formats including Raw images, using their original file name and structure. A built-in backlit LED screen shows operational status, battery life, remaining hard drive space and active partition, and a copy status indicator shows you percentage completed during copy, copy confirmation and the number of files copied upon completion.

The Photo Safe II also uses a user-replaceable lithium ion battery that is rechargeable via USB or using an external AC power supply.
