Digital Multiplex (DMX) lighting is commonly used for stage shows, in theater and live music performances. Now SyntheFX has developed Luminair, an application for the iPhone and iPod touch that lets you control DMX lighting over a Wi-Fi network. It’s available now from the App Store and costs $99.

Designed for theater pros and lighting pros, Luminair helps you control DMX lighting from an iPhone.
Luminair uses Artistic License’s Art-Net protocol over Wi-Fi. It enables your iPhone or iPod touch to communicate with other hardware and software over the network, providing a touch-board channel layout, multi-track, touch-enabled mixer and data analyzer.

You can also save and restore fixtures and projects to quickly set up intelligent lighting networks for the next gig. The software incorporates master black out controls, support for unlimited output tracks, real-time color manipulation with “Color Changer” channel layout, and the ability to save fixtures by manufacturer and model.
