Storyist, a story development tool targeted to novelists and screenwriters has been updated adding several new features. Among the new features in Storyist is support for converting Microsoft Word .docx, Open Office .odt file formats (Leopard only) and the Final Draft .fcf format.

The application update also brings practical features like a floating inspector panel with access to text, style, and document formatting properties; text processing tools to help automate tedious search and replace operations like converting to and from smart quotes, changing italics and other functions; and writers can use the Storyist text tools in Automator workflows and use Automator to create workflows for use in Storyist.

Storyist also includes Story Sheets, a Project Manager, Wiki Links and Project Templates to help you get up and running quickly.

Storyist requires Mac OS X 10.4 or higher and costs $59.
