SperMegaUltraGroovy and toastycode on Friday announced the release of TapeDeck 1.1, an update to their audio recording software for Mac OS X. The new release is a free update for registered users and costs $25 to register.

TapeDeck uses a whimsical interface — it looks like an analog cassette deck (and even whirs and clicks like one) — but it enables you to record audio using a single-click interface. Your recordings are stored in a “tape box” and you can set recording quality levels.

New to the 1.1 release is the ability to import and export to other formats including AIFF and MP3. You can also upload your recordings to YouTube.

TapeDeck requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later.
