Proavio U.S.A. has announced the release of its Studiorack S4UF, a rack-mountable disk array with FireWire connectivity. Pricing was not announced.

The device occupies 1U of vertical space in a standard equipment rack and measures 13.5 inches deep. It’s designed for audio pros who need to store data, and comes in capacities ranging from 1.0 terabytes (TB) to 4.0TB. It touts a "dual membrane" design that its Proavio says cuts down on fan and disk noise while still maintaining internal airflow.

The Studiorack S4UF features USB 2.0, FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 interfaces. Disks inside the system can work either in RAID arrays or as a JBOD (Just a Bunch of Disks) configuration. The S4UF features hot-swap disk bays and room for four Serial ATA (SATA) hard disk drive mechanisms.

The Studiorack S4UF works with Logic Pro, Pro Tools, Cubase, Final Cut Studio and other software.
