Rivet Xbox 360 streaming software enhances podcast support

Cynical Peak Software has released Rivet 1.3, an update to its software to stream audio and video content from your Mac to an Xbox 360 working on the same network. Rivet 1.3 is a free update for registered users; it costs $18.95 to register.

With Rivet installed on your Mac, you can stream audio, video and photos from your Mac to an Xbox 360 working on the same local network, enabling you to view your digital media content on your Mac from your home entertainment system instead. It works with movies, TV shows and music (provided they’re not encrypted with DRM), and also supports digital photos and podcasts. Rivet retains the same folder structure you have on your Mac to help simplify navigation.

New in version 1.3 is the ability to only display unplayed podcasts. The “Share checked songs only” option no longer requires the iTunes database to be reparsed. Rivet 1.3 also better handles network connections and disconnections when sleeping. The menu bar icon no longer flickers when viewing a video, the device description is now in memory, and an issue has been fixed involving allocating a new port when the previous one is in use.

Rivet 1.3 requires Mac OS X 10.5 or later, iTunes, a networked Xbox 360 and 2.7MB hard disk space.
