ATTO Technology on Monday rolled out new host adapter cards for Macs and PCs used in data-intensive storage environments. They include new Fibre Channel and SATA host controllers and a new RAID storage controller.

The Celerity FC host adapter fits into a PCI Express (PCIe) 2.0 bus, as is found on late-model Mac Pro systems. It's an 8 gigabit (Gb) host adapter that's available in single, dual and quad-channel configurations. ATTO includes target and initiator drivers. Prices range from $1,495 to $3,995 depending on configuration.

ATTO also introduced its ExpressSAS 6Gb Serial Attached SCSI (SAS)/Serial ATA (SATA) host adapter. ATTO offers six different host adapter variations, including cards that have two mini SAS connectors and four MINI SAS connectors. Pricing was not announced.

The FastStream SC 8500 is an 8Gb SAS/SATA independent storage controller. Aimed at circumstances where you want a Storage Area Network (SAN) using previously direct-attached SAS/SATA storage. Details on the FastStream SC 8500 had not been posted to ATTO's Web site as Macworld posted this article.
