Managing Editor Inc. (MEI) on Friday announced the release of InQuery RSS for the Macintosh. It’s designed to work with Vjoon (formerly SoftCare) K4 Publishing System.

InQuery RSS lets K4 users review and check the status of items in the K4 database using any Internet-enabled device equipped with a Really Simple Syndication (RSS) reader, such as Apple’s Safari Web browser or NetNewsWire.

The server-side application translates K4 queries into RSS feeds that can be read from computers, Palm and BlackBerry smartphones or iPhones. Practical applications include providing access to team members who don’t have direct access to K4 but who can benefit from content previews, such as Web team members who want to create teasers for upcoming content, prepress departments who want to stay abreast of released pages, and staff working with a sister publication.
