Ecamm Network has announced the release of PhoneView (formerly MegaPhone) 2.1, an update to their desktop "companion" software for the iPhone and iPod touch. It costs $19.95; this upgrade is free for registered users.

PhoneView enables you to use your iPhone as a disk. It lets you play and export music, download camera photos, create, edit and save notes, export synced photos and export contact information. You can also send files, text, PDF or Word documents to the iPhone notes application.

New to the 2.1 release adds automatic SMS and call history archiving, XML export, enhanced support for "jailbroken" iPhones and more. It also fully supports the latest iPhone and iPod touch firmware updates.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later, iTunes 7.3 or later and an iPhone or iPod touch.
