AccuWeather.com has announced the release of a new application for the iPhone and iPod touch. It's available for free download from the App Store.

The application is Location-Aware, so if you have a GPS-equipped iPhone, it'll zero in on your location and find weather data automatically. The application connects to the AccuWeather.com service to find radar and satellite weather information, and provides five-day forecasts with high and low temperatures and sky conditions for both day and night.

The AccuWeather.com app also features hour-by-hour forecasts, connections to weather videos, health weather indices which include UV, air quality, arthritis and flu index, and "Weather Alarms," which notify users of certain bad weather conditions (based on your settings)—rain, snow, ice, wind, gusts and thunderstorms. It will also provide you with government-issued weather alerts.

System requirements call for an iPhone or iPod touch running iPhone 2.2 software.

AccuWeather.com also features an iPhone-optimized Web page.
