Audio plug-in maker McDSP introduced the Channel G Surround and Channel G Compact plug-ins at the NAMM music show in Anaheim, Calif.

is a Compressor/Limiter optimized for 5.1 channels using 4 compressors sets — LR, C, LsRs, and LFE. These compressor sets can key from any combination of the LR, C, LsRs, and LFE channels, according to the company. In addition, individual compressor controls can be linked across various surround channels, and the LFE channel includes an optional low pass filter.

Channel G Compact offers the same experience as the Channel G, only with a smaller DSP footprint. The plug-in features calibration modes for music, post production, and models of the world’s most popular analog mixing desks. Channel G Compact integrates with the Digidesign D-Control and D-Command control surfaces, as well as the Venue D-Show and Profile live sound consoles.

Both plug-ins will be available in Spring 2009. Channel G Surround HD will cost $495 or $295 as an upgrade for Emerald Pack customers. Channel G Compact HD will be available for $495, and Channel G Compact Native will be available for $295 -- the Channel G Compact plug-ins will only be offered as an upgrade to Emerald Pack.
