Unmarked software has announced the release of Textsoap 6.1, an update to their text processing utility software for Mc OS X. It costs $40, and is a free update for registered TextSoap 6 users.

TextSoap helps you “clean” text while maintaining formatting. You can clean text based on its format or format based on text contents. More than 100 built-in cleaners are included, and custom cleaners are also available and can be created.

New to the 6.1 release are new actions — you can get the leftmost, middle or rightmost range of characters, convert right text hyperlinks to plain text, and use Automator to specify text encoding when reading and writing files. Additional groups have been built-in, and rich text and plain text can now be toggled between for both the clipboard workspace and text files. A new Speak Text toolbar button has been added, and dozens of fixes and improvements have also been made.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.5 or later at 14MB hard disk space.
