Game publisher PlayFirst has announced Thursday Wandering Willows, a new game for Mac OS X and Windows. It’s now available for PlayFirst “PlayPass” users, and will be available for general release on Tuesday, March 24, 2009.

PlayFirst is best known for casual games like the seemingly unstoppable Diner Dash series of task-management games. The company is exploring new territory with Wandering Willows — they classify the game using two terms we don’t often hear together — casual and RPG (role playing game).

In Wandering Willows, you have been marooned on a strange land after your hot air balloon malfunctions, and you have to go on a series of adventures to get home. You can select from more than 150 quests as you interact with rocket ship commanders and pirates, gather and train more than 40 pets, collect more than 200 recipes and complete 150 clothing patterns. You can craft items to sell, and engage in sewing, baking and gardening as part of your overall quest.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later, G4/800MHz or faster, 256MB RAM, Flash 8 Player or higher, 800 x 600 resolution and 35MB hard disk space.
