ProteMac on Friday announced the release of ProteMac Meter 2.6, a new version of its network activity monitor for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, ProteMac Meter costs $30.

ProteMac Meter helps you monitor and log network activity for every app on your Mac, showing you exactly what data was transmitted and to where. It’s a security tool to help you keep track of how the apps running on your Mac communicate not only on the local network but also on the Internet. It provides real-time process monitoring and shows the history of each network activity.

New in version 2.6 is a new notification engine. The user interface has been updated, and stability has been improved. Bug fixes have also been made.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later and 12.4MB hard disk space.
