The latest version of Fetch now allows users of the Mac file transfer program to edit any sort of remote file using any application.

Fetch 5.5, announced Tuesday by Fetch Softworks, introduces several other enhancements including the ability to use the Quick Look feature in Mac OS X 10.5 to view more kinds of remote files without leaving Fetch. The software developer also says that it has upgraded Fetch’s file transfer engine to upload Web sites and other large collections of files with “unprecedented reliability.”

The update is free to users who bought Fetch after January 28, 2009; other users can upgrade to Fetch 5.5 for $10. A single-user license for the file transfer program costs $29. Fetch runs on OS X 10.3.9 or later.
