Glu, a leading global publisher of mobile games, has revealed details of a new game for the iPhone and iPod touch due for release next month.

1000: Find ’em All promises to be either engrossing or frustrating as you potentially spend weeks searching the virtual world using the built-in GPS in your iPhone.

Gamers will be able to seek out real world Wi-Fi hotspots to obtain unique items, with each new hotspot spawning a character you can collect from. You can use GPS to hunt down more collectibles and locate new items in the fantasy world by navigating the real world, Glu explained during Macworld UK’s recent visit to the London HQ of the games company.

By performing a search with the press of a button within the game mode, a player might find a list of local cafés or hotels with hotspots near them. Activating this mode while on the move will reveal a map of the player’s current location covered with collectible gifts. Walking toward the gifts will add them to the player’s collection.

The gift could be anything from a half eaten jam sandwich, to a monkey with a typewriter.

1000: Find ’em All successfully marries this virtual gaming experience with true, real-time mobility through the use of the iPhone’s GPS and through the employment of Wi-Fi hotspots, Glu says.
