DevonThink 2.0 adds smart tagging, more

Devon Technologies has released version 2.0 of its document- and note-organizing products, DevonThink and DevonNote.

DevonThink 2.0 includes a number of improvements over its predecessor, including smart tagging, better PDF annotations, and the ability to open and manipulate multiple document databases simultaneously. The update also lays the groundwork for some new features that Devon Technologies says are coming later in the year, such as an iPhone client and automatic synchronization through MobileMe and WebDAV.

Separately, the company says that DevonNote 2.0, DevonThink's note-taking companion, has also received a major overhaul that brings its capabilities closer to those of its fellow program. Among the enhancements are support for templates and linking to external documents, as well as some of DevonThink's plugins for importing and exporting data.

The new products are also designed to play nicer with some of Snow Leopard's new features like text substitutions and data detectors.

DevonThink is available in a number of editions ranging from Personal, which costs $50, to Professional Office, which can be had for $150; DevonNote is available separately for $25. All products can be purchased directly from DevonThink's website, where the company is, for a limited time, offering a 10 percent discount on purchases to celebrate the 2.0 release.
