XtremeMac's MicroFlip is a leather flipcase for the 5G iPod (with video). Available in four different colors -- saddle, brown, dark brown, and black -- the texture of the leather varies with the color.

The MicroFlip's flipcover is secured by a strip of leather that hooks, via a small hole, around a small metal peg protruding from the case. When the flap is open, the face of your iPod is still protected by both leather and clear plastic that covers the face and the controls. On the back of the case is a leather-covered metal belt clip that, while not removable, doesn't add much bulk.

XtremeMac put some thought into the design of the MicroFlip as, unlike most cases with a belt clip, it's possible to use your iPod while clipped to your belt. When opened, your iPod actually flips down, exposing its face straight up to you with the correct orientation -- you don't need to unclip in order to choose a new song. However, when using the case in your hand, if the flipcover is open, there is nothing holding your iPod in place on the bottom, so gripping the sides is essential.

The MicroFlip offers complete protection with good quality leather and an useful design.--Derik DeLong
