Treading where others have dared and failed, Womp's iPod nano Womp!Wallet is an attempt to merge a wallet with an iPod case. Like many of the other models of this sort, the Womp!Wallet does not particularly succeed.

A leather bi-fold case, available in a number of colors, the Womp!Wallet opens to reveal a sleeve for an iPod nano on the left and a slot for a couple cards on the right. Although the leather of the wallet is nice and thick, the iPod slot (which features a plastic protector for the screen) doesn't seem to be quite the right size for the nano. The nano fits, but the leather around it bulges out a bit, leaving the Click Wheel somewhat misaligned. The nano also shifts around slightly, so though the hold switch is accessible via a cutout at the top, the switch is somewhat difficult to access -- trying to use it actually moves the iPod. Though there's no protection for the Click Wheel, this isn't a big deal, as closing the wallet keeps the controls fairly well protected. The headphone jack is accessible when the wallet is closed, but to get to the iPod's dock connector, you'll have to remove your iPod from the case.

As far as the wallet angle goes, it suffers from the same problem that I've had with other wallet-style cases: There's just not enough room to use it as a wallet. You might be able to fit a few folded bills and a card or two, but that's it. Any more and the wallet starts to bulge in an unseemly fashion. Also, I tend to keep my wallet in my back pocket, which I certainly wouldn't recommend doing with your iPod; the chance of breaking it is too high.

Though there seems to be quite a trend towards merging the functions of the wallet and the iPod case, I suggest you might be better served by foregoing the Womp!Wallet and sticking with two separate accouterments, a wallet and an iPod case, each of which will be better suited to its purpose. --Dan Moren
