Matias's Matias Armor case for the second-generation (2G) iPod nano is a hinged, aluminum-hardshell case that keeps your iPod well-protected while leaving its controls accessible. The design is pretty simple: pop the case's clasp open, seat your nano in the case's foam-lined interior, and snap the case shut again. Your nano will stay secure in its armored case, its screen covered by a clear, hard-plastic protector. The iPod's hold switch, Click Wheel, dock-connector port, and headphone jack are all accessible for your use.

Though I would recommend the Matias Armor case to those concerned for the safety of their iPod nano, I should also note that this case is functionally equivalent to our recently-reviewed PDO Aluminum N2 case: the chassis of the cases are pretty much identical, except for the fact that the Aluminum N2 has a silicone protector over the Click Wheel, whereas the Matias Armor leaves the Click Wheel open and exposed. And the N2 is also cheaper than the colored versions of the Matias Armor (the silver Matias Armor is the same price as PDO's case). Both also include a lanyard, though Matias also offers the option of buying a belt clip for an additional $15.

That shouldn't necessarily take shine off the Matias Armor: it's still a good, solid case, and if you don't like the idea of a silicone "skin" covering your iPod's Click Wheel, the Matias Armor is a fine choice. The only other potential downside to the case -- and this applies to PDO's offering, as well -- is that it adds some bulk to the otherwise svelte nano. But that's the tradeoff you make for thorough protection.
