Despite a rough economy, iPad accessories continue to flow into the wild in an untamed river of shiny plastic and form-fitting polycarbonate. Griffin Technology is the latest contributor to this premium-priced flood of cool with a new series of accessories for the iPad: the CinemaSeat, the Stylus for iPad, and three new cases. The CinemaSeat and Stylus help extend the functionality of your iPad, while the new cases offer sleek and stylish protection for your device.
The $40 CinemaSeat is a padded case for your iPad that straps to your car’s passenger- or driver-seat headrest, turning your iPad into an in-car entertainment system for your backseat passengers. The case supports your iPad while providing full access to its controls and ports. On the back is a wide, adjustable Velcro strap that wraps around your headrest, and a net pocket for storing small accessories.
The Stylus for iPad is a $20 balanced pointer with a soft rubber tip designed to mimic your finger. The tip is omni-directional, which allows it to adapt to any writing style and accommodate both left and right-handed users. The Stylus keeps your iPad’s touchscreen free of smudges and fingerprints, and gives you increased precision over touchscreen operation. It’s ideal for sketching, drawing, and certain gaming and photography applications. Though marketed for the iPad, the Stylus will work with other Apple touchscreen devices as well.
The $50 Reveal protects the back of your iPad with a clear polycarbonate plate that, as the name implies, reveals the back of your iPad. The Elan Form Graphite, also $50, features a woven-look synthetic outer layer that is bonded to an impact-resistant polycarbonate inner shell. The Outfit is a slim, hard-shell polycarbonate case with a smooth matte finish. It’s available in four colors, with the clear and “smoke” models priced at $35 and the blue and purple models priced at $40.
